Uh Oh Valentina Monetta for a 3rd time to Eurovision!

Valentina Monetta

You gotta give it to Valentina Monetta! The San Marino representative at the Eurovision Song Contest edition of 2012 and 2013 has today been announced to represent her country for the third time in a row, at the upcoming 2014 Eurovision contest.

The singer confirmed today that she came to an agreement with the San Marino broadcaster to go to the event for a third time. The singer who represented her country with ‘Crisalide (Vola)’ finished just outside the top ten semi finalists, thus not qualifying for the grand final, which was held just over a month ago in Malmo, Sweden.

The producer responsible for her 2012-13 entries, Ralph Siegel, has also confirmed he’s involved in the 2014 team. With preparations only just started and very little detail known about the 2014 contest, it remains to be seen what the title of the song is and what we can expect of it.

Congratulations Valentina!

San Marino have never qualified for the grand final, but came close this year with Valentina and her track ‘Crisalide (Vola). Watch her entry below:

Listen to Taffy’s new single ‘Flower chain’.

Back in June we announced that Japanese brit pop rockers Taffy had told us they’d be touring the UK later in the year, preceded by their new single ‘Flower Chain’. With the release of that single only two weeks away, their new single, ‘Flower Chain’ is now available to hear below:

As you’ll hear, Flower Chain is  an infectious cocktail of joy, which sees Coxon-esque guitar lines meet sugary female harmonies. It’s got a massive punch, which strongly hints to the Classic Brit pop. You just gotta love it!

‘Fower Chain’ is out on September 3. With its launch date close the band have also unveiled the official video for the track. Check it out below:

Taffy are touring the UK in October and November. For more info, check here.

Tom Hickox is our ‘One To Watch’ this week and he’s new track is available for free! Win-Win!

This week we’re focusing on an artist which is really out of this world: Both the Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Times have described Tom Hickox as ”truly original and out of this world” and believe us they were not wrong. If you were present at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Glastonbury and The Big Chill then Tom Hickox is bound to ring a huge Big Ben bell!

Already drawing comparisons to incredible singer songwriters like Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and Randy Newman, Tom’s distinguished ability to write amazing lyrics, sprung from his love for literature, and produce incredible melodies, something he inherited from his parents who were both active in the music industry, shine through in his  song ‘The Angel of The North’, which he’s given out for free.

The track which will be featured on his debut album ”War, Peace And Diplomacy”, is so incredibly strong and connects with you instantly, shows why we have chosen this young man to be our ‘one to watch’ this week, as the exposure of his talent is simply astonishing. Talking about delivering such high quality on material, Tom explains: “I need to write hundreds of songs to get to the point where I am consistently delivering material that resonates on more than just a simple level, and that I care deeply about.” Spoken as a true artist!

With the support of his management and record company, the support of PR, papers and blogs, this man should get all the opportunities to launch him into massive stardom. Download your free copy of ‘The Angel of the North’ below:

Tum Dum Dum! it’s the Return of Lisa Marie Presley!!! Check out the video of her new single

Yes you read that right! The daughter of the King, is returning to the music industry with a new album after an absence of seven years, which saw her moving to the English countryside with her husband and twin daughters.

The album ‘Storm & Grace’, released through River Island on October 15th, is said to be an Americana-inspired collection which perfectly showcases Lisa Marie’s song-writing talent and smouldering alto voice, is produced by 12-time Grammy Award winner T-Bone Burnett, and features collaborators including Richard Hawley and Ed Harcourt. The new album is close to the singers heart as it is for her a way to return to her roots.

First single, preceding the album, is out on October 8th called ‘You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet’ which has seen the premiere of its video earlier in the year. It’s moody, laid back and raw. Nice one to return with Lisa Marie!

The slightly alternative appearances of US bands like .Fun and Karmin have seen them conquer the world with great success in the past few months of 2012. Rory Mohon and Lisa Garcia are a Portland, Oregon based duo better known as Copperfox and set to follow in their colleagues foot steps with their mesmerizing alternative indie pop.
